He
started work as an apprentice joiner at the age of 14
with Gus Bailey building the shops at Fallow Road, South
Shields. Recently, as part of a Jensen Construction Ltd
revitalisation contract he was working on the same shops
he helped to build back then.
Carl,
who lives in South Shields, was joined by family, friends
and work colleagues at a celebration social evening where
he was presented with a joiner’s saw suitably mounted
on a wooden plinth. When giving advice and guidance to
younger colleagues Carl is often heard to start with “In
all of my 60 years in the construction industry……”
Managing
Director Norman Jensen said : “Carl has clocked
up a remarkable record of long service in the construction
industry and he is a well liked and much respected member
of the Jensen Construction team. Long may he continue
to work with us.”
“Older
people have a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience
and it is wonderful that we have already put into practice
exactly what the new age discrimination legislation is
seeking to do.”
